Wapakoneta High School is proud to celebrate Mr. Adam Friemering, who was chosen by Katie Bauer—our 2025 Franklin B. Walter Award recipient—as the educator who made the greatest impact on her academic journey.
As Katie’s biology and anatomy teacher, Mr. Friemering created a “unique blend of learning and enjoyment” in his classroom. His “lively discussions made challenging concepts more memorable,” inspiring curiosity and a love for science that Katie will carry with her into the future.
“You’ve shaped my future in ways I’ll never forget,” Katie shared in her nomination.
Thank you, Mr. Friemering, for your passion, your energy, and the difference you’ve made in the lives of your students.

We’re proud to announce that Katie Bauer is Wapakoneta High School's Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award Recipient for 2025! 🌟
Katie has truly shined at Wapakoneta High School with a 4.0 GPA, an impressive ACT score, and 22 honors credits, many through our College Credit Plus program. She will graduate Summa Cum Laude and is heading to Ohio University to major in Biological Sciences and minor in Spanish on her path to becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
Katie's high school journey is filled with service and leadership—Lunch Buddies, NHS, Student Senate, FCA, Spanish Club, cheer, swim, track, and lots of volunteer work. Her teachers describe her as hardworking, compassionate, and someone who inspires those around her.
Katie leads with heart, purpose, and a deep desire to help others. 💪❤️ We’re beyond proud of her accomplishments and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make in the world. 🌎💫

🎉 Please help us welcome Emma Rex to the Wapakoneta City Schools staff! Emma will join the Cridersville Elementary team next school year, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her back in the district where it all began.
Emma graduated from Xavier University with her undergraduate degree in Primary Education in December 2023. She continued at Xavier to earn her M.Ed. in TESOL while working full time in campus ministry, graduating in December 2024. She will also receive her Reading Endorsement in May 2025!
Emma is an avid runner currently training for her seventh and eighth half marathons! 🏃♀️💨
When asked about joining WCS, Emma shared:
✨ “I am so excited to be a part of WCS because it played such a significant role in shaping me into the person I have become. Without the foundation of Cridersville first, followed by the rest of my years as a WCS student, I would have a much smaller view of what it means to be a part of a community that values one another and seeks to serve. I am honored to start my teaching career within the same walls that my passion for teaching began.”
Welcome home, Emma! ❤️
