It was an outstanding performance by our marching band last night! So proud of our kids and our band directors. A lot of hard work has been put in over the last few months. Thank you senior band members for your dedication! Also, thank you to our student section for cheering on your classmates. #bebetter #showup

The girls’ soccer team won last night, and they are sectional champs! They will play the first game of districts on Wednesday, October 23rd at 5pm against Shawnee at Elida’s Soccer Complex. Go Redskins!

Geology students went to the Mercer County Library to tour the Langsdon Rock and Mineral collection, which is one of the best in Northwest Ohio. Students not only got to see the collection but were given a presentation from Marie Zehringer on different types of rocks and minerals as well as their uses and importance in our everyday lives.

Great win for the Redskin volleyball team last night! It was fun to see them persevere and win the match in five sets. Good luck next week! #showup

Tegan Frimering was honored as a captain at the BGSU football game this past weekend. Her helmet design was chosen by the University and worn by the defense during the game. This was a huge honor for Tegan, the Friemerings, and we are proud to see her represent our school system!

The district will be operating on a two hour delay on Wednesday, October 23 for professional development.

This is a cool picture that was shared with me from a recent junior high football game.

September 25 was "See you at the Pole". Here are some pictures of our students and staff praying for our school, classmates, and faculty at Wapakoneta.

Bus 2 and Bus 8 are currently running approximately 30 minutes behind due to an unexpected delay/construction they encountered this morning.
Thank you for your understanding.

Parents,
Over the next few weeks our school buses will be doing emergency evacuation drills with the students. Please be aware that the buses could be running about 5-10 minutes late at the end of the day.

Parents,
We have been made aware of a rumor of a threat that took place at a local district earlier this week. There have been phone calls and questions about this threat and if there is any credible threat towards our school buildings. I want to assure you that there is not, but we have made our local police aware of the issue, our resource officers are aware, and we are taking all necessary precautions at the school buildings. This includes more police presence on our school campus. I can assure you that we always do everything we can to keep all of our kids safe.
Sincerely,
Aaron Rex

At our recent school board meeting we honored three of our retirees. Kim Metz who started in the district in 1990 working in many of our buildings as a physical education teacher, coach, and guidance counselor. Brigitte Lietz started with the district in 1994 as part of our food service staff at Cridersville and then the middle school, and finally Kara Kohler who started with Wapakoneta in 1995 serving as a 5th grade teacher at Buckland and the middle school.
These ladies touched many students' lives while serving in their roles and they will be missed! Thank you for all that you have done for the students and staff at Wapakoneta City Schools.
