Bus 2 and Bus 8 are currently running approximately 30 minutes behind due to an unexpected delay/construction they encountered this morning.
Thank you for your understanding.

Parents,
Over the next few weeks our school buses will be doing emergency evacuation drills with the students. Please be aware that the buses could be running about 5-10 minutes late at the end of the day.

Parents,
We have been made aware of a rumor of a threat that took place at a local district earlier this week. There have been phone calls and questions about this threat and if there is any credible threat towards our school buildings. I want to assure you that there is not, but we have made our local police aware of the issue, our resource officers are aware, and we are taking all necessary precautions at the school buildings. This includes more police presence on our school campus. I can assure you that we always do everything we can to keep all of our kids safe.
Sincerely,
Aaron Rex

Wapakoneta City Schools speech pathologists had a great opportunity to attend a professional development day that focused on building collaborative teams and practices. They also participated in small group Q&A with other professionals and trainers in the field.

We would like to thank the Wapakoneta Service Club for their generous donation of two communication boards, one at Cridersville Elementary and one at Wapakoneta Elementary. These will be a useful tool for our students with limited language skills and our staff members.

At our recent school board meeting we honored three of our retirees. Kim Metz who started in the district in 1990 working in many of our buildings as a physical education teacher, coach, and guidance counselor. Brigitte Lietz started with the district in 1994 as part of our food service staff at Cridersville and then the middle school, and finally Kara Kohler who started with Wapakoneta in 1995 serving as a 5th grade teacher at Buckland and the middle school.
These ladies touched many students' lives while serving in their roles and they will be missed! Thank you for all that you have done for the students and staff at Wapakoneta City Schools.

As we prepare for the start of school please take a look at the school calendar. August 15 is our Back to School Celebration, and the first day of school is August 20.

Parents, We are requesting that you update your final forms by July 15 so that we can begin planning our bus routes for next school year. We appreciate your help with this!

This last Tuesday our cafeteria staff handed out 303 meal packages at the high school and 101 at Cridersville. This amounts to seven breakfasts and seven lunches per child. Thank you to our staff for doing this for our community!
Tuesdays through Aug 6.

The 4th grade choir will be performing with the high school choir on Monday evening.

All afterschool events scheduled for tonight are cancelled or postponed, this includes Kindergarten Signing. Coaches and event organizers will provide details at a later time for when events will be rescheduled.

Wapakoneta City Schools will be operating on a two hour delay on Friday, March 15. We have some residents still without power, there are rural roads closed, and sunlight will allow for people to navigate roads that may have water/debris.
Please keep our families who lost their homes in your prayers. Also those in other communities such as St. Marys and Indian Lake.

Attention Current PS Families! Please check your email for an important message! Have a great night!

Tomorrow at the high school only our juniors will attend to take that ACT. Students in grades 8, 9, 10 and 12 will not be required to be at school. The middle school, Wapakoneta Elementary, and Cridersville will have a normal school day.

Wapakoneta City Schools will be operating on a 2 hour delay schedule on Wednesday, March 6 due to staff professional development.

Congratulations to Lizzy Sidener on becoming the 100 Breaststroke Sectional Champion!

As you are aware, a Solar Eclipse will be taking place on April 8 this year. We are expecting a great deal of visitors and traffic in Wapakoneta, and the surrounding area.
The path of the eclipse passes over our community in the early afternoon near our dismissal time. Due to this we will not be having school that day. Our teachers will be planning learning activities that involve the eclipse and will share these with our young people as the date approaches.
Our goal is for the kids to experience the eclipse, provide fun/meaningful learning activities, and to keep them at home and away from the congestion.
The district has been in communication with other school districts and the local agencies to make sure we are all on the same page when it comes to planning for April 8.
If you have questions please reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Aaron Rex

We want to remind all families that this Wednesday, February 7 we will be operating on a two hour delay schedule for staff professional development.

Wapakoneta City Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 25 due to fog in some of the outlying areas of the school district.
