Subject Breakdown        

Science
  • Provide hands-on lab experiences.

Language Arts

  • Effectively meet the needs of various reading abilities in each classroom.
  • Evaluate if Benchmark tests are predictors of future success on proficiency/achievement tests.
  • Evaluate annually the effectiveness of the reading series.

Math

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Saxon math series based upon results of the standardized/achievement/proficiency data.

Staff Development

  • Provide opportunities for subject specific meeting district wide.
  • In-service non-teaching staff about dealing positively with students.  Provide opportunities for subject-specific meetings district-wide.
  • Emphasize and encourage professional development.
  • Offer ongoing on-site opportunities for training, based on building and district needs as well as off-site presentation.
  • Provide motivational presentations on how adults impact children.

Instruction

  • Promote differentiated learning and teaching strategies to provide for gifted, majority, and special needs.
  • Encourage the use of reflection to impact instruction, re-teaching, and professional development in their field.
  • Identify, reduce, and/or remove interruptions and distractions in the learning environment.

Communication

  • Encourage teachers to share information with colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain a welcoming "student and family" atmosphere.
  • Provide programs to support parents/guardians.
  • Provide regular parent-to-teacher accessibility, electronically and personally.
  • Encourage parents to take responsibility for their child's education.

Discipline

  • Identify proactive procedures to alleviate preventable discipline.
  • Involve counseling to identify student issues which appear as attendance, discipline, and learning problems.
