Paul Baransy: Jazz

Paul Baransy retired in 2012 after directing bands in public schools for 34 years. Most recently, he was assistant band director in the Ottawa Glandorf Local Schools. He also directed bands at Continental Local for eighteen years. Mr. Baransy earned his Bachelor’s degree from Findlay College and holds a Masters degree from BGSU. At Continental, his marching bands qualified for OMEA State Finals fourteen times, and traveled to festivals in Virginia Beach, Washington DC, Louisville, and Niagara Falls. At OG, his junior high jazz ensembles performed in the BGSU, Tiffin, and Capital University jazz festivals. Mr. Baransy is a member of the soul band “Funk Factory”, "Night Jazz Big Band" and the “Village Idiots”. He teaches trumpet lessons at Bluffton University and is the band director at St. Augustine School (Napoleon). He lives in Ottawa with his wife Ann and has two daughters, Emily and Natalie.
