Paul Baransy retired in 2012 after directing bands in public schools for 34 years. Mr. Baransy earned his Bachelor’s degree from Findlay College and holds a Masters degree from BGSU. He  likes to tell people that every day is different now that he has retired from being a band director.  He’s a substitute teacher and plays in a jazz quintet and a big band.  He teaches private trumpet lessons at Bluffton University and serves as a student teacher mentor for BGSU.  He is also the band director at St. Augustine school in Napoleon.  He is an OMEA marching band adjudicator and directs the “Groundwork” Jazz Camp.  He completed a piece (“We Stick Together”) about the Sullivan brothers that was performed last summer by the Waterloo, Iowa Municipal band. He lives in Ottawa with his wife, Ann and has two daughters.
